was taking my usual walk on the empty concrete road; walking is all i seem to do now, it’s become a second life to me, as it feels i'm the only one that seems to be around anymore.
I was out there for a few hours, wandering the crumpled buildings and the old park.
My parents used to take me there, before the fire. Tears filled my eyes, but i pushed them back, knowing that tears would only make it harder than it was in this lonely village.
It used to be a beautiful village; i know that from my mother's paintings around the house, the lake, the church and the farm. But then it all changed.
I couldn't bear thinking about the horror so i started walked back home, when i saw a cardboard box.
It was just an ordinary box, lying by the side of the road. I see plastic bags and squashed boxes never one in good condition. I was just so drawn to the box, so i went to pick it up.
And that was when everything changed.
I opened the box, and my heart just about exploded. In the box was a small, little baby kitten. it was the cutest thing i’d ever seen.
I’d hardly took in what was happening when i heard a little squeaky voice pipe up “dadda?” i looked the kitten, this can’t be real i thought, but i knew it was;
The kitten could talk.
I didn’t know what to do, but i knew i couldn’t leave it here in the cold; so i wrapped the baby kitten
in my jacket and took it home.
in my jacket and took it home.
The baby kitten looked hungry. So i found some leftover fish in a trashcan; it wasn't much but it would have to do for now until i could buy it some proper food...
Ever since the kitten was living with me i was so happy; i’d taught it to talk and read, and sometimes take it for a walk.
At first i was worried people would see her talk, but so very little people were around these days so i started to relax after a while.

Christmas was coming soon, it's been seven years now from having her, and the days only got brighter and better, but i knew that someday it would change. She’d be gone someday, i just hoped it
wasn't soon.
I woke up to a start on Christmas morning; church bells were ringing, birds were singing, the biggest holiday had arrived. I called pansy into the living room to open presents; that's her name now. It was my mother’s name, so pansy the little kitten was a reminder of her. I had been working extra hours in the local pizza shop, it wasn't a lot of money I earned but I managed to get her a little bow hair clip, a pink journal (it's still a little hard for her to write, but I know she loved pink) and a card with a sparkly reindeer saying merry Christmas! She loved them all. I didn't expect anything much in return, but I got the most amazing gift of all. She had drawn a card with a picture of her and me, and little love hearts floated around the page. Inside it said ‘love you dadda’. I was touched, I gave her a big hug and whispered “thank you.” We played cards, made gingerbread men, then snuggled up by the fire I'd got going. We were watching doctor who when I heard a knock at the door. I hid pansy just in case someone saw her and heard her talk, as pansy had no idea that her talking wasn't normal. I opened the door, but know one was there. I looked down, their was a note folded up on the ground. I picked it up, curious to see what it said. I know your secret. My heart skipped a beat, I looked around to see if anyone was watching, know one was so I kept reading. She'll be gone soon, in my hands. You can't hide from me. My eyes grew wide. From your new deadly enemy-- The rest of the paper was torn off. I turned back and ran into the house, slamming the door shut, I didn't want her in this evil wicked person's hands, I was going to have to be careful for now on to keep pansy safe. ------------------------------
