the mysteries of the light house - wonders of the waves - no.1 (9)

howdy 'll!
this is another series started off, but i'm bubbling with ideas for the next! enjoy the fun & adventures Sarah & Ruben get up to!
for more exciting stories & series check out my other blog posts!!!!!
THIS POST WILL BE CONSTANTLY UPDATED!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Perfect weather for a day out on the boat kiddos; you guys can play in that old lighthouse while i'm out at sea!" Sarah and Reuben stared woodenly at their father, they had no intention of visiting the dusty lighthouse.

"Oh come on guy, it'll be fun!" as much as he tried to cheer their gloomy faces he soon lost hope in the children enthusiasm, so he gave up and told them they were coming anyway whether they wanted to or not.

As Sarah and Reuben entered the lighthouse they were greeted with a rusty, timber wood staircase. Miserably, they climbed up, creaking and squeaking as
they went, they finally reached the top floor.

dragon strike (8)

hi!
this is my first story in the series, hope you enjoy!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Chapter 1 - Where it All Began
31/12/15
There was a time when I was very young, I was given unbelievable powers by an old wizard. He was as wise as your grandparents, wiser than the ancient gods, even wiser than the man who created the world himself, and his name was Gregory. Gregory Slim. Gregory chose a child who could make the world a better place, one who could be kind and brave, one who could believe and have hope, and that child just so happened to be me.

So many crazy things happened along the rollercoaster of time. Ah, what a life to remember…. and taking out my diary from years ago I started to read the precious chapters of my lifetime all over again.

Chapter 2 - The First Page Of Life
01/02/11
I have a secret. I never dared tell anyone because I was afraid of the consequences, but one day I did, and today just happened to be that day. It all started with today’s fine, sunny morning. The flowers were blooming, the trees lightly waving, bright beautiful colours filled the scene. It was a wonderful afternoon. That was until the black dragon striked.

He came down from the sky and turned everything miserable. The flowers shriveled up, in came the wind that bit you furiously, the world turned black with evil.
“What do you want?!” I yelled angrily at the black dragon.
“Your soul” he replied in a deep, growly voice, blowing a gust of ice cold wind whipping ripples along my shocked, still face.
My eyes grew wide in fright, I knew I was hopeless against this monster.
“You shall not get what you want,” weakly I cried, trying to stay strong whilst staring into his horrible, cruel, dark purple eyes.
“Oh I will,” he smirked and with that sucked up all the happiness I held, and disappeared into the cold sky.

All I felt was sadness and for years it stayed that way but nobody knew. They were not like me at all because.. ok i’m just gonna say it... i’m a witch.

Yes, you heard me, a witch. Not those evil, cold, cruel ones you know in fairytales, but a caring and kind witch. I could do all kinds of magic, stop time, hover in the air, walk on water, all that stuff. But the one thing I didn’t know how to do is something that most of us can do. Know how to make friends.

I had hope, if you have hope you could do anything. I had felt a longing for years, and it wasn’t until I turned 10 that I found a friend. Although by then, I felt so unhappy I didn’t feel it was worth having one.

And then I made the biggest mistake you could make; tell someone you were a witch. But I just had to, and if something terrible happened then at least I would be happier dead than still living in sorrow and sadness.

I sat down beside my friend, Carmen, and said ,“hey, um, Carmen, can you promise not to tell anybody this?”
“Sure,” she replied, surprised and feeling slightly awkward with what on earth was coming next.
“Well, I..” I couldn’t believe what was happening, “am..a witch.” I covered my mouth, I simply couldn’t make out I had said that.
Carmen’s mouth fell open in disbelief, and then she said the most amazing thing “you’ll never believe it but I am too.” I was then soaring over the moon with the joy of finding someone else that could do magic and all my happiness was restored as I had re-discovered it.

“Grrr!” The black dragon cried from the dark clouds, with annoyance that I had finally found happiness and that he could not stop me without taking my power.

From then on he vowed to kill me, to made a plan to get back at me, to destroy me, the people I cared about, and the world.

Chapter 3 - The Mystery
02/02/15
After finding another witch in this world we set out to defeat the black dragon, we traded spells and tips for floating in mid-air and how to stop time in peculiar ways. One spell I was especially proud of was changing the weather. I was also shocked that Carmen was able to control others minds, which was a very strange habit that became mine too.

When a week or so had passed and we were playing a game of “catch the balloon,” where you have to try and catch the magical balloon as it giggled and wiggled whizzing over-top of you, it’s a really good game, especially when you have someone else to play it with.

When we were playing catch the balloon it whizzed over to a large flax bush and we rushed over to catch it, we caught a glimpse of somebody who had disappeared further into the bush, curiously we snuck up on him, ever so quietly, we were silent as mice. Until I tripped on a branch. I fell with a thud straight to the ground, I gasped as the the strange man spun round and stared at us, then relaxed a little when he realised that we were magical people too. Before going he simply said, “ I shall take you on an adventure if you wish, You know where to come.” He then vanished with a last cry of “hsinav!” (meaning in spell “vanish!”) and left us staring at where he had suddenly disappeared.

Confused, we went back to class, but as the maths lesson droned on and while woodenly staring into space i wondered why the man had said  “You know where to come.” What on earth was that supposed to mean? You can’t simply just know where to go? The man was totally insane.

“Arcadia!” Mrs. Hillary cried out in a croaky, crackly voice.
“For the fourth time, what is 6 + 7 + 5 x 9 x 3? Or have you simply not payed attention to any of the lesson and would like a double detention?” As she said it her lips curled into what a snake looks like when it’s about to bite you.

Yikes! normally double detention isn’t that bad, but this time I couldn’t waste my lunch sitting in the classroom, I had to figure out where to go to claim my adventure.

I glanced in Carmen’s direction, hoping she knew what the answer was, and thankfully she mouthed the digits to me. “430,  no wait, 78, no that’s wrong..” I gulped, I simply had to get this right. “Wait I got it!.. it’s 140... 148!” Carmen did a mimed clap for my victory, and I breathed out relief for escaping dreaded-detention, and Mrs Hillary just looked like someone had punched her right in the stomach. Bursting with anger of my fortunate win, sent us all away to lunch, giving her last crackle of the day “Don’t run in the hallway!” before scuttling off to the staff room to make more devious plans to make her pupils have the most miserable time you could ever imagine.

Chapter 4 - The Search

“Ugh” I groaned, I didn’t realise we needed to search the rubbish bins to!
“I can’t believe we looked all through the junk and nothing we found, 0, zilch!” I exclaimed, annoyed that we only had 5 minutes left of lunch time until we had writing, but nothing was to be seen in that dumpster apart from garbage.

“Look let’s just go back, i’ve had enough of tiresome investigation.” provoked in irritation, turned and started to walk back to class.
“Arcadia..” Carmen began, unsure of what she was seeing “the bins are shaking.”
I spun round, thinking this was some kind of lame joke to get me to stay but it was really happening; they were rattling like mad, and then they floated up into the air and, without warning, burst into flames.

“Retaw!” (water) I cried, drawing my wand from my hand, pointing at the sudden lit-bins, and pure cool water was pouring all over everyone of them, and the fire was gone in seconds, and there in the ashes lay a small crystal ball revealing the words “give me the truth of true need.”

“Easy” carmen said, rolling her eyes, then pointed her wand at the crystal ball, gave a loud cry of “erutnevda na kees ot emoc dna sehctiw era ew!”
Grinning then said  “that should do the trick” and to my surprise the ball opened up and out came a large emerald bowl of water.

“Well go one then” said Carmen gesturing to the glorious emerald bowl.
“Go on what?” i was confused, was i supposed to drink it or something?
“Have you never gone through a portal before?!” Carmen burst out, imagining the world without portal travel, thinking it a nightmare.
“Look, it’s easy, i’ll show you.”She walked up to the bowl and, without any warning, dived into the emerald bowl.

Chapter 5 - Another Dimension
I was highly alarmed when this happened, but reluctantly I dived in after her. It was like sailing the seven seas, you were pushed around and werling into nowhere. Thumping and crashing I landed  flat on my face, and when I had the nerve to look up I saw a place of another dimension; Pink fluffy clouds filled the sky, a two long stripes of trees of every colour and every kind. A pathway of stunning silver grass lead up to a fabulous lapis lazuli fountain, with crystal clear water, golden lines growing up the sides and right on the top held a large heart-shaped diamond that brightly shined and grandly stood out from all the stars in the galaxy.

“It’s just soo beautiful” Carmen whispered, but as she crept up to lush water, about to take a sip, when everything disappeared and in it’s place was a deep dark forest that you get lost in on nightmares, but one major thing struck me; we were in the middle of it. “Let’s get out of here” I squealed when I said it, and when I turned back to rush through the portal, it was gone.

“We have no choice” Carmen said “But to go on.” I knew she was right but who knows what lived in that forest? We could get killed in there!

“Awooh!” a howl not far from us struck our spine with cold fright and terror, how long could we last?

chapter 6 - deep into the forest
“Ok, we’ve trained ourselves for the past few weeks, we know enough protection spells to survive a couple of hours until we find how to escape this dreaded place.” Carmen, explained, a trickle of sweat ran down her forehead as she said it.

Right at that moment, out of the bushes jumped a werewolf who growled and got ready to pounce, but I was to quick. “Thgil!” I screamed, aiming at the werewolf. A large ray of light spun around him, he groaned and then sank into the ground, not be seen again.

“Ok let’s run!” Carmen urged at me, and we sprinted for all we were worth, yelling out spells to creatures like skeletons, claw bunnies, swiping foxes and more crazy wacky animals that hid in the shadows, we dealt with them all. “Were doing it!” happy I was with our work, I knew we could find an end to this place we just had to keep pushing.

“Arcadia I think I can see something in the distance!” Carmen said, and sure enough as it came into focus, there was a large water tank, and we were both thirsty so it looked like a win win!
But then I remembered what the man had said “you know where to come” did he mean for a drink?

“Carmen hand on” I grasped hold of her arm to pull her back.
“Yeah what, do you want a drink or not?” She smiled at me, but then frowned when I looked so worried “what’s wrong?”
“You remember when that strange man said you know where to come?” I said, breathing in before carrying on “well we want a drink so we know where to come don’t we, but what if this is a trap? What if he meant i us to come here in the first place?!” Carmen started to look worried too, but then relaxed more and said “Arcadia if this was a trap he would think we are dead by now, because as you know, only great witches have survived anything like that forest, so don’t worry about it, come on, let’s get a nice drink of water.” She started running up to the water tank, I knew this was wrong so I didn’t follow but simply cried after her “Carmen no don’t!” but it was too late.

Chapter 7 - The Adventure Really Begins
“Ha ha ha!” laughed the strange man, who had tricked us to coming here and had tied Carmen to the water tank, She was struggling to escape but couldn’t, the ropes had been made of thick titanium cords and were too tight to wave her wand to break free, it was up to me to save her.
“Uoy htiw enog eb” I said, casting a spell in the man's direction, but he seized the chance to go up into the sky and then I realised he was the man in the moon.

The moon glowed proud and bold as he entered, and he started to form the no-longer pink but black clouds into a monstrous dragon, who sprung into life and came down for it’s dinner.

Chapter 8 - The Battle
I was ready. I knew I could do this. When I was little and didn’t realise I was a witch I had learnt highly advanced karate, thank god I did. I performed moves to avoid the dragon hot fire flames, and I casted my own spells to attack him.

It was hopeless, one of us had to die in the end, but which one?
At last, I remembered the most difficult spell I could think of; death. but the only thing was he was standing right in front of Carmen, and if he got out the way in time my spell would hit Carmen.

I had to try. In a croaky voice I screamed for all I was worth “dekirs sah ti su tsgnoma si htaed!”
A blast of tremendous energy shout out of my wand, and didn’t hid the black dragon, but Carmen.
“no!!!!” i screamed, rushing over to her, she fell to the ground, the spell had snapped through the titanium rope and hit her smack on the chest. i cried and cried, this couldn’t be happening! it was all my stupid fault, and now my best friend was dead.

her eyes were set like a zombies, I started rattling her bones to shake her out of it, but then I realised something. where was the dragon? then I saw her eyes glow purple like his, he was taking over carmen's body and soul.

Hang on, for the dragon to escape the spell he went in carmen's body, so carmen must only be controlled and not killed as the black dragon would have blocked the spell, their still was a ray of hope.

“T
he Carmen I know wouldn’t let this happen, so get him out of you, just yell no!” I shouted right to her face, but nothing happened.
A tear ran down my cheek and onto Carmen's, I had lost the meaning of life entirely. The sadness and magic from that tear was so powerful it would grant any wish desired, against the rules or not.

It broke Carmen free from the black dragon, blasting the black dragon, we saw his spirit drift off into the cold night air, back to the moon.

Carmen lay there on the ground, still and unconscious, but after a few minutes she had recovered and was living her normal self again. “ Yes your back!” I hugged her so hard I was digging into her skin, and the portal appeared beside us in our great need, and we were safely back at school, with the black dragon. dead on earth but alive in the stars, revenge would come soon, but right now we are safe, but we won't be for long.

summer up-cycled t-shirt (6)

hi!
i've been real busy lately but i'll try to keep the blogs coming more regularly.
if you have not read my other blog posts please do so!
by the way. for those of you who have read "sapphire springs" (not the place with the really nice pools, ha ha i just realized she's named after that!) I've decided to start a whole new series, and i already have 1 ready to type up straight after this one so stay tuned!
enough about me let's get to what i'm supposed to be doing!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
one weekend i found an old white blank t-shirt, and decided to create a brand new easy & awesome t-shirt!

what you'll need:
blank white top
potato
paintbrush
vivid / black marker pen
sheet of cardboard (for size read instructions and follow the pictures)
fabric paint in yellow, green, purple & red / deep pink.

1. place the cardboard sheet inside the t-shirt, so the paint doesn't leak through.
2. slice the potato length-ways and paint half red / deep pink.
2. print on  to the bottom of your t-shirt and paint a small green rim around it, leaving a small white gap in-between.
3. when dry mark pips on the watermelons, in my picture i didn't leave enough space between each so make sure you do.

4. cut out a pineapple, i got my mum to do it as i am rubbish at potato carving.
however, to make it easier you could just do the yellow part and paint the leaves on after.
5. print the pineapple's around the collar of your t-shirt, if the paint doesn't come out well go over it with a paintbrush, using the faded version as a guide.
6. finally, paint in purple (or any other colour you want) "dear summer, never end." you don't have to write that, you could say anything you want like "summer rules!" but i went with this.
enjoy creating your up-cycled t-shirts, don't forget to check out what else i get up to!

spice mix (5)

hey guys!
if you haven't read my other posts i would do so know!
today i thought why not do a bit of cookery, so i did a quick 5 minute spice mix that you can sprinkle into anything, after it's cooked or while it's cooking, it gives it more flavor and it makes that final touch to curry's, roasts, meats, soups, any meal at all!
the recipe is below, tested already.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
what you need:

a pestle mortar, (----------------------------------------->)
or a coffee grinder, best if you do buy a pestle mortar they are only about $15 and are very handy for future needs. you also need a saucepan. (best if small)

Ingredients:
1 tbsp cumin seeds
1 tbsp coriander seeds
1/2 tbsp black mustard seeds (1 tbsp, depending if your into spicy food or not)
1/2 tbsp cardamon seeds
1/2 tbsp fennel seeds

Method/ instructions:
Combine all the spices into the saucepan on high heat, shaking the pan in a clockwise direction every 10 seconds, the roasting should take up to 1 minute. take of the stove when you hear a single "poop!" monitor the pan at all times, DO NOT leave your eyes from it.

Then pour into your pestle mortar or coffee grinder and grind together pressing them into the sides until finely grind, leave to cool for 10 minutes before transferring to a jar, pot, e.t.c. keep out of direct sunlight, best used within 2 weeks.

hope you enjoy adding some spice to meats, roasts, curry, soups and more! can be added after or during cooking, leave in the comments any ideas to add to that.

be sure to check out some other posts, like my stories, what i get up to and recipes galore.

sharks at midnight (2)

hey guys!
if you haven't read my last post i would do so now!
anyway, this is my FIRST story i have posted of sapphire springs! if you have any ideas for further ideas please say so. this story doesn't say her name or where she has come from, but i'll tell you know; it's about a ten year old girl who has runaway from an awful orphanage and is on the run for her life.
by the way, this first story in the series of sapphire springs, and this is called "sharks at midnight," hope you enjoy!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here i am, locked away in a gloomy dungeon, only a small portion of light filtering from above, please help. Wondering how this mess got started? well i'll tell you...

The night was dark and cold, the wind bit my face like a knife, I was going to run away, I was really going to do it. The trees swayed at my approach. I could turn back now couldn't I? but a voice inside my head told me to go on. I disappeared into the forest, nobody could come and help me if I run into the face of danger but that didn't stop me. I clambered into a hole and my eyes fell down and I drifted into a slumber.

I was soon woken by the roaring of the wind and the strike of lightning, a storm had arrived and I had no shelter to hide from it. My pathway had long gone in the spitting rain so there was no hope in turning back now. Then I thought struck me, did I really want to go back? to that awful orphanage with the pesky kids and the putrid maid, Bettie, I wanted to leave didn't I?

after considering whether to find a way back or to go on, I decided to find my way through the thick dark trees by the light of the pale moon, but after seconds of slithering my way through the crumpled leaves and twigs scattered across the ground, I was suddenly pulled into a slimy swamp into the depths below  by a long, green slimy hand. gasping for breath with empty lungs, I looked around, all was a murky grey, until I spotted about a thousand white teeth snapping at my direction. when I realised what it was; a shark. my eyes grew wide, how could I survive that killer? helplessly I tried to swim away from it, but it was too fast.

this would be the end, after living in the orphanage with the worst life you could ask for, no happy memories, and now I was going to die. I closed my eyes and got ready for the last second would live.
the split second after that I was hurled out of the water and back onto the muddy ground, what was shocked by this, but after getting my breath back and deciding what to do now I heard a voice beside me say "go."

I didn't have to hear it twice. I zoomed through the trees as fast as I could, panting and aching all over as I came into the clearing. I  saw the sunset as I got to the top of a near by hill, and after reaching the top I clasped from running all the way up hear, as I rifted of into my dream I could help wondering inside my head who had saved my from being ripped apart limb to limb, and I might never know.

the end!!! (for now....)
